Balmoral Castle is open 1st April to 31st July. We replace this stop with Scone Palace from 1st August to 31st October when this tour closes for the season. 1st April to 31st October only.
This tour starts with a drive to Glamis Castle. Ancestral home to the Earl and Countess of Strathmore for more than 600 years and childhood home of Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon Queen Elizabeth the Queen mother. Glamis Castle is a Magnificent Red sandstone building dating back to the 14th century. The castle holds the most comprehensive history of Her Majesty, The Queen Mother to be found anywhere.
Next we take a drive through Glenisla, past Forter castle to the magnificent mountain landscape of the Cairngorm’s. From rich farm land and agriculture, to purple heather, wildlife and the great forest’s of Royal Deeside.
Here we will visit Her Majesty the Queen’s current Scottish home, Balmoral Castle. First purchased by Queen Victoria in 1852, it has remained a Royal residence ever since.
On route back to Edinburgh we stop to admire the Meikleour Hedge. Standing 100 feet tall and 530 meters long , it is the tallest and longest hedge on Earth.
